Knife Party - 100% No Modern Talking

New Knife Party EP was finally released on Dec 12th.
I saw them recently at UKF Bass Culture and they were the best act of the night beating dubstep juggernauts Skrillex, Nero and Chase n Status.

Zeds Dead - Eyes On Fire VIP

One of my favourite Dubstep remixes of all time has been given a little tweak.
These dudes are top of my list for Dj's I need to see next year.

Dada Life - Kick Out The Epic MotherF*cker

Hmmm love the breakdown mid song but the drop lacks melody, I find it a bit repetitious and dull... Still a really good track, but nowhere near Happy Violence, Fight Club or White Noise.

Kaskade's 'Eyes' has been one of my favourite tracks this year and MisterMike's rendition is brilliant.

His latest mix for BBC Radio 1 is quality.

Check out the tunes from Nero and Feed Me who i'll also be seeing tomorrow.

Bangers & Mash [Vol. 1]

Shitload of Bangers right here.

Finally some properly released Knife Party ! Two great tracks full of the Pendulum energy we've always loved.

London homeboy Special Features has possibly made the best Strobe remix EVER and KOAN Sound continue to blow me away with their Futuristic Dubstep Funk.

Turn those speakers up - go crazy.

Re:Generation

I'm very excited about this documentary/project Hyundia has in the works.

Here's the concept: five of the best electronic musicians in the world today are filmed doing some serious genre bending with non-electronic music legends. For example, Pretty Lights collaborates with country music's Leann Rimes and bluegrass folkhero Ralph Stanley. Skrillex drops a track with Robby Krieger and Ray Manzarek, of The Doors. DJ Premier and Nas does a classic piece with the Berklee Symphony Orchestra and Mark Ronson gets together with the Dap Kings, Erykah Badhu, and Trombone Shorty for a jazz tune. The tracks i've heard so far have been out of this world besides the classical/rap track which did'nt hit the spot.

The Skrillex track is fucking amazing. But the problem with a collabo with such a prolific band is that Doors fans will be disappointed. But its not meant to be a Doors rock track, its a testament of how music has evolved and how artists like Skrillex or Justice have become the new "rock and roll". The Times they are a changin..

Rock:

Looking forward to hearing the Mark Ronson track.

Spotlight [Vol. 4] - Mord Fustang

Time for a Spotlight post on Electro wizard Mord Fustang.

Mord has gained acclaim all over the world thanks to his unique sound and quality production, which is hard to find these days with the rise of bedroom producers churning out mediocre songs and remixes like theres no tomorrow.

The first Mord track I came across "The Electric Dream" blew my mind and i've been a massive fan ever since. 5 more originals and multiple remixes have elevated Mr Mord into electro super stardom and he's become one of my favourite electro artists right now.

Really looking forward to his set at MOS on Nov 12th. Link

He describes his music to be "An adventurously nude fluctuant immaculate rainbow coated thunderstrom with arpeggios, 1-up mushrooms and disco basslines, plus a wobble or two."

Could'nt have said it better myself.

Pick N Mix [Vol. 10]

Alot of "mainstream" tracks in this post, but the remixes bring them to another level and many have been on repeat since.

The Deadboy remix is incredible, fully changing the essence of the original song.

Breakbot gives Kavinsky's nightcall an injection of funk and Hook n Sling sprinkles his magic onto Nervo's popular club banger.

Justice - Audio, Video, Disco

Finally the new Justice album has arrived. I've probably listened to it about 20 times since yesterday.
To be honest I wanted another Cross, I mean who would'nt? Cross is one of the greatest albums of our generation (Best album ever for me). It was more than just an album, it was revolutionary, rebellious, a distortion filled masterpiece.
It transformed two french dudes into electronic rock gods and they have never looked back.
For 4 whole years no other Dj's have come close.

For this new album they wanted a stadium rock aesthetic and totally achieved it.
From start to finish the album is a journey through the last few decades of rock n roll.
Huge influences can be heard from The Who, Cream, Rolling stones and Queen.
Im not going to write a track by track review, just buy/download the album and give it a full listen.

Trust me it will be worth it.

To summarize i'd say Justice have created something groups like MSTRKRFT have been dreaming of for years. They do not conform to what their fans want to hear. They do what they want, no one else can release two albums with such different themes and excel to the heights they have. It may sound like many rock album from the 60's but they have managed to put their unique sound into every track. The basslines, the vocals and whole construction just oozes the class and quality you would expect from the French duo.

If your up for a long read this is the best review i've read so far.

8.5/10
